DIRECTOR OF GIVING
As a breast cancer SURVIVOR and previous recipient of our WeCare Program, she knows what it's like to hear the devastating words "you have cancer" as well as our message of love: "we care."
"You don't think to purchase a beanie for your head because it's going to get cold during chemotherapy, or a neck pillow/blanket because you will be reclining so much more than you normally do. It was so comforting to know that there was an organization trying to help make my time just a little easier to handle during all the challenging periods of treatment. The WeCare package meant more to me than I can ever really express. I had taken care of my mom during her treatment for breast cancer, and for the first time since I was diagnosed, I truly felt taken care of.
All I can say is not a single breast cancer patient should go without one.”
With over 13 years of experience in a non-profit healthcare setting, Kristen supports the WeCare Program in every aspect from inventory procurement, management to distribution. Kristen's primary focus is ensuring that THE BCF reaches as many patients as possible in a direct, meaningful and tangible way.
“Having grown up in the halls of a nonprofit community hospital, I was often connected with patients who were only just beginning their journey into what I could only describe as the unknown. THE BCF spoke to me, in that it helped me understand that a cancer diagnosis does not have to feel like the unknown. Because at THE BCF, the message of love is loud and clear: "We Care”. And with this, I’ve found that it’s the love that is the known, and that is powerful."
